In the ‘50s, John Steinbeck, author of the famous reportage which gave Positano worldwide fame, wrote: “ When the Emperor Tiberius moved to Capri because he was so hated in Rome, he didn’t trust  anyone. He was afraid people wanted to poison him and perhaps he was right. He didn’t want any bread made with local flour; his boat came to Positano and brought back the flour made in a local mill”.
