how to get around from Naples airport
Naples is certainly a central point for people travelling to Positano. If you are travelling by plane, for example, you need to know that to get from the airport in Naples to the city centre, there is a comfortable shuttle service (known as Alibus). Daily rides depart from 6.30 am to 22.30 and link the airport of Capodichino to both the central Neapolitan square of Piazza Garibaldi (here you can find the state railway station as well as the Circumvesuviana train station in Naples) and the central square of Piazza Municipio.
The ticket of the Alibus ride costs 3 euro and has a 90 minutes validity. Bus departures are every 30 minutes.
An alternative to the Alibus service from the international airport of Naples to the city centre is the ANM bus service, in particular the line S3, which leaves every 10 minutes for Piazza Garibaldi (where you can find the central train station).
Something to remember is that at Piazza Garibaldi you’ll find in the same station the terminal of the Azienda Napoletana Mobilità, which gives you the possibility reaching every little corner of the city. But the most important thing is that if you are going to Positano, the local Circumvesuviana trains depart from Piazza Garibaldi to the Sorrentine peninsula (from where you then catch the bus to Positano). From Piazza Municipio (namely from the Beverello port) in summer you can catch the ferry or hydrofoil to Positano. There is another possibility and that is to take one of the private little buses leaving from the CLP which leave from the airport to the city centre. The ticket can be purchased on board.
Another solution is to take a taxi from the airport to the centre. Remember to check though that they are authorized vehicles showing the municipal licence. A taxi ride from the city airport to the centre takes about 15 - 30 minutes and a taximeter shows the price. More exclusive and comfortable is the transfer service to Positano. In this case prices will be higher but it is the fastest, most comfortable way to get a direct connection to Positano, and is available 24 hours a day. A V.I.P alternative is the helicopter transfer. It stands to reason that this would be more expensive than the other transport options.
