getting to Positano by sea
Amongst the various ways of reaching Positano, you could also consider getting to Positano by sea or, - if you want to take a tour - getting to the Amalfi coast by sea.
In this case, it would be wise to remember that connections by sea to Positano, just like the connections to Amalfi are available only in high season and summer. Before considering this option, determine your departure point to get to Positano.
If you are going to follow the route Napoli - Amalfi Coast or Napoli - Positano (and vice versa Amalfi Coast – Napoli or Positano – Napoli), remember that there are two different ports in Naples that you can embark from:
- Beverello Port (which is close to Municipio Square)
- Mergellina Port (which is about 500 metres away from the underground station of Napoli Mergellina, which is also close to the railway station of Napoli Mergellina).
In both cases you can catch ferries to Positano (as well as ferries to the Amalfi Coast) or hydrofoils to Positano (and obviously hydrofoils to the Amalfi Coast) or there are other means of transport by sea to Positano (and transports by sea to the Amalfi coast).
We suggest you to have a look at the section about moving around in Naples. If you want to get to Positano from Sorrento you can count on the availability of a ferry to Positano, different hydrofoils to Positano and some other sea connections to Positano. From Sorrento hydrofoils and ferries of different navigation companies also depart.
The other possibility is to depart from the city of Salerno from where you can catch the hydrofoils or ferries going from Salerno to Positano or Positano – Salerno.
